Thanks to its smaller body, and especially their reduced height due to the lack of a pentaprism or pentamirror assembly, the Sony A33 looks rather aggressive, with the popup flash housing hunched low over the top of the lens barrel. Thanks again to the relatively short stature of the Sony A33, the remainder of the rear-panel controls are rather difficult to reach when shooting single-handed, even with the relatively light kit lens attached. There are only a few buttons, Function, Playback, and Delete, plus a four-way controller with a central OK button. This isn’t an issue if shooting two-handed, but you do have to change your grip fairly substantially to reach any further than the top quadrant of the four-way controller. With real-estate at a premium, Sony has only provided markings on the controller for the alternate functions offered during shooting (and in the case of the Up / Display button, during playback).

PCB coatings seal off remaining PCB contaminations and go some way to reducing the presence of future contaminations that may promote water condensation. That is all PCB coatings do! There is no point coating over solder connections as these may be re-soldered in service. Even a coated PCB will have condensing water at very high humidities and favourable temperature differences.

The Residual Current Circuit Breaker is a tad expensive, and is probably overkill for most hobbyists. A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter outlet, (GFCI), is cheaper to buy, cheaper to have installed, and a *knowledgeable* do-it-yourselfer can install his or her own. If you are knowledgeable about electrical wiring and codes, but don’t want to change an outlet in your house, you can buy a GFCI outlet and some regular outlets and make your own ground-fault-protected power bar, as a correctly wired GFCI outlet can protect additional regular (cheap) outlets as well. Alternatively, I’ve also seen GFCI units that plug in overtop of regular outlets and add protection to them.

It does seem to be an old electrician’s habit, never leaving the leads plugged into amps. Somebody commented on one of Big Clive’s videos about him doing that. Seems like a good habit to get into.
